New Part! 65-66 Mustang Heat Dash Control Plate Retainers

1965 and 1966 Mustang Heater Dash Control Plate Retainers
www.VirginiaClassicMustang.com
They are small parts, but when you are putting something together on your Mustang, they become a lot bigger!  We now have the small retainers that fit on the backside of the dash and hold the chrome 65-66 Mustang heat dash plate onto the metal part of the dash.

These retainers fit over the studs on the back of the plate and then the nuts are installed.  Our part number is IN-5601.  These retainers are formed just like the originals and are also zinc plated like the originals.

Below we have also posted a picture of the dash plate itself.

New Mustang Steering Wheels

GT Retro Mustang Steering Wheel
GT Retro Mustang Steering Wheel
www.VirginiaClassicMustang.com

We are proud to announce a whole new line of Mustang Steering Wheels from GT Performance Products. It's always exciting to offer parts like this when they are so darn nice!!!

The pictures don't really do these steering wheels justice.  They are far superior to our previous offering of Grant Steering Wheels.

They all feature polished billet aluminum hubs along with polished aluminum Mustang center caps.  The horn center cap is secured by a "Sure Lock" O-Ring design that allows the cap to fit easily, snugly, and securely. They all come complete and ready to install with the steering wheel, hub kit, and Mustang center horn button cap.

There are three versions available for 64 1/2 Mustangs with Generators, 65-67 Mustangs, and 68-78 Mustangs.  We have the GT Classic Series that features either a traditional "old school" Black Foam grip or a Genuine Wood Grip (with a beautiful clear finish!).  Both of these feature super nice chrome (front, back, and sides!!) spokes with cool chamfered holes.

The other version is the GT Retro design.  This steering wheel features stainless steel construction with brushed spokes, laminated "book-matched" layered wood grip secured with rivets, and a beautiful clear finish on the wood.

Just the Details...1966 GT350 Shelby Mustang

1966 GT350 Shelby Mustang.
www.VirginiaClassicMustang.com

The work continues as our green '66 "driver" Shelby GT350 goes back together.  As mentioned, we have chosen to keep many parts of this car original.  At the same time, we want the car to function like new, so some items like the suspension and brakes are being replaced, rebuilt, and refinished as necessary.

The upper suspension control arms were rebuilt with NOS ball joints and Ford control arms, new brake rotors, rebuilt brake calipers, Ford lower control arms, new bushings, etc.

www.VirginiaClassicMustang.com
When we purchased the car, it was equipped with a Hurst Competition Plus Shifter.  We gathered up an original 4 speed shifter, disassembled it, had all of the pieces plated like original, and reassembled it.  There are two shifters pictured here, because we put together one for our '66 Carryover GT350 project at the same time.

www.VirginiaClassicMustang.com
As the engine pieces were prepped, we learned that the '66 Shelby still was running its original oil pressure sending unit.  That's very unusual.  What is even cooler is the fact that it is date stamped...note the "C6" for March 1966.  In our effort to maintain the originality of this car, we decided to reuse this piece since it still works!

Just the Details...1966 Shelby GT350 Mustang Restoration

1966 GT350 Shelby Mustang.  Preparations being made to mount the car on the rotisserie.
www.VirginiaClassicMustang.com

It's been well over a year since we have had an update on the blue '66 Shelby in the shop at Maple Hill Restoration.  The work has begun again, so look for a lot of GT350 Shelby updates on this car (6S933) and our '66 Carryover GT350 (6S033) as the restorations continue.  We will also have posts with more pictures of our green driver '66 (6S1732) as it continues to go together.

This '66 was original a Sapphire Blue car with no LeMans stripes.  It's a super nice car and is all complete. It has been lightly undercoated, so Jeremy is currently stripping that from the underside in order to determine the overspray patterns that will be duplicated.

The exterior was painted white at one time, and that has been stripped also.

Enjoy the pictures!

Jeremy at Maple Hill Restoration continues our "clean up" on our original condition '66 Mustang Shelby GT350.  The last owner painted the engine block black way back in 1972, so we chose to paint it the correct color blue.  All of the aluminum pieces will be installed this week, and we will have another post soon!

Customer Car - 1966 Mustang Fastback Drag Car

We always love to feature customer cars.

Here is the story from the owner:

Not long ago I sent you some Photos of my Mustang collection (64 1/2 convertible, 65 HiPo GT coupe and a 77 Cobra II).

I thought you might like to see some photos of my most recent acquisition... a 1966 Mustang fastback drag car. I purchased this car last November because I always wanted a fastback to complete my early collection.  As you can see this is not a typical ground up restoration and it certainly wouldn't win the thoroughbred class at MCA, but the car does have an interesting history.

It is one of the original NHRA, IHRA drag cars built in the mid sixties so it has been a drag car all its life. I am trying to track down the cars complete history which has been part of the fun.  So far I believe the car was built in Texas by Tom Hardy for a gentleman in Maryland where it spent most of its life.  I purchased the car in Virginia.

Since I bought it my son and I have shown it at a local car show (drew a lot of attention)  It was raced in late May at Rockingham where it ran a 6.0 @ 114.8 mph in the 1/8th mile.  Not too bad for an old war horse.  ( I call her "Bucket list").  You don't see many fastbacks at the at the drag strip (a lot of coupes) so this car draws a lot of attention as well as a ton of questions.  It is fun owning a piece of Mustang history and just wanted to share.

New! 65-66 and 67-73 Mustang Radios - AM/FM USB iPod Dock

1965-66 Mustang Radio.
www.VirginiaClassicMustang.com
We were extremely disappointed when the reproduction 65-66 AM/FM Mustang Radios were discontinued.

We just got in the replacement for this radio, and we could not be more pleased!

These new Mustang radios are fantastic!  They feature an original, vintage look, but with a flick of the slide bar, the digital LCD display shows.  Both models, of course, fit the factory dash (65-66) or radio bezel (67-73) with no modification.  They feature all of the modern "bells and whistles" like 300 peak watts, iPod control, USB port, color select LCD lights, and more.

As mentioned, there are two versions to fit your particular model Mustang:

RD-9611 65-66 Mustang AM / FM / iPod Doc / USB Radio

RD-9612  67-73 Mustang AM / FM / iPod Doc / USB Radio

Click on either above link for more information.
