The work continues as our green '66 "driver" Shelby GT350 goes back together.  As mentioned, we have chosen to keep many parts of this car original.  At the same time, we want the car to function like new, so some items like the suspension and brakes are being replaced, rebuilt, and refinished as necessary.

The upper suspension control arms were rebuilt with NOS ball joints and Ford control arms, new brake rotors, rebuilt brake calipers, Ford lower control arms, new bushings, etc.

When we purchased the car, it was equipped with a Hurst Competition Plus Shifter.  We gathered up an original 4 speed shifter, disassembled it, had all of the pieces plated like original, and reassembled it.  There are two shifters pictured here, because we put together one for our '66 Carryover GT350 project at the same time.

As the engine pieces were prepped, we learned that the '66 Shelby still was running its original oil pressure sending unit.  That's very unusual.  What is even cooler is the fact that it is date stamped...note the "C6" for March 1966.  In our effort to maintain the originality of this car, we decided to reuse this piece since it still works!
