The 289 High Performance Mustangs came equipped with an open element 14 inch chrome air cleaner assembly.  These air cleaners were also used in the popular engine dress up kits that were marketed by Ford.

We have a few different versions of these air cleaners available, including a show quality reproduction that is exactly like the ones originally installed on the '65-66 289 HiPo Mustangs and '65-66 Shelby GT350s.

Now we have an air cleaner that is exactly like our correct assembly, but it features a chrome lid with raised COBRA lettering.  Like our other air cleaners, it comes complete with the correct round hole air filter and base.

As you know, we are big fans of the early 289 High Performance Mustangs.  Because of this, we are super excited to announce the availability of these new, unique chrome air cleaner assemblies.  These air cleaners were installed on the '64 1/2 HiPo K Mustangs and are commonly referred to as "double hump" air cleaners, referring to their uniquely shaped top lid.

These air cleaners were also installed on 260 & 289 Cobras, early Falcons, early Fairlanes, and other early Fords.  Recently, they have been very difficult to find, and the prices have reflected their rarity.

This is a super nice reproduction and comes complete with the correct round hole air filter and a stamped steel base.  The base is painted semi gloss black and does not have a provision for a hose.

Our Chrome Air Cleaner Assemblies are very popular items, and we often get several questions about these parts.  The questions often involve the bases, so we wanted to take a closer look at these today.  We will be talking specifically about the Exact Reproductions.  These are our part numbers EG-124 and EG-145.  These air cleaners were originally installed on all of the 65-66 HiPo Mustangs and GT350.  They were also part of the Engine Dress Up Kits that were available as over-the-counter accessories at Ford dealers.

Both of these styles come with a very nice chrome plated top lid that is very, very close in configuration to the original air cleaner lid.  These assemblies also include the reproduction of the original air filter.  The difference in the two parts is the base.

Our EG-124 Chrome Air Cleaner has the blue base with the nipple for the hose the runs to the oil filler cap.  This emission system with the oil cap and hose was used on cars built for delivery to California, including all GT350 Shelbys.  Most of the 65 models and early 66's had a gold painted base, so if you have one of these cars, you will have to repaint the blue base with the gold paint.  This nipple was sometimes originally capped off for Mustangs that may have not used this system.

New! Mustang Aluminum Oval Air Cleaner

We just got these cool, new oval air cleaners in!  They feature an aluminum lid with a chrome "raised" Running Horse emblem.  The base is stamped steel and will fit a V8 carburetor.  The air cleaner assembly comes complete with the filter and mounting hardware.

We now have a beautiful reproduction of the 67 Mustang 390 GT Air Cleaner Assembly.  This is the style without the emissions control tube.

This Air Cleaner is an exact copy made from the original Ford Tooling.  It includes the correct base in the correct Ford Blue color and a beautifully chromed lid with the proper rubber seal.

While this air cleaner assembly is correct for the 67 390 and some early production 68 390 Mustangs, it is a fantastic stock appearing upgrade for the very restrictive 68-70 390 and 428 air cleaner assembly.

65-66 GT350 Mustang Oil Cap to Air Cleaner Base Hose

A lot of Shelby owners have asked us about the hose that goes from the oil cap to the air cleaner base on a 1965 and 1966 GT350 Mustang Shelby.  We finally got around to sourcing this.  The hose is ribbed like the original.  It has no markings like the originals that we have seen.

We measured several originals and came up with a common length of right under nine inches, so that is what is in the kit.  The proper "squeeze type" clamps are also included.

This hose would have also been originally used on any 289 HiPo Mustang that was originally delivered to a California DSO.  This was basically the smog or emissions equipment back in 1965 for the High Performance Mustang.
