We have a complete line of straps, including our new '65-67 Mustang / Shelby version, which features the correct "FDA-14303-A SX FOMOCO" markings. They are all made in the USA! This is a great and correct detail for any Mustang or Shelby. We also have the correct mounting hardware.

Here's the run down:

Mustang Headlight Wiring Harness

1965 Mustang Headlight Wiring Harness
www.VirginiaClassicMustang.com
Even if your Mustang's wiring is not all cut up, it's 50 years old.  Time, heat, and cold have all taken their toll.  Replacing the wiring harnesses is always better than seeing smoke!!

One of the main harnesses under the hood area is referred to as the Headlamp Harness.  We are often asked for the wiring harness that plugs into the horns or voltage regulator or headlights or alternator harness...you get the picture - all of these plug into this headlamp harness.

There were two versions made in 1965.  One is for the Mustang equipped with the warning lights (for the oil pressure and water temperature).  These are the cars with the "long style" speedometer.  This included the 1965 GT350 Shelby.  The other is for the '65 models with the gauge package.  These cars included the GT equipped Mustangs, cars with Pony (deluxe) interior, and the early '66 Carryover GT350 Shelbys.

It was a bit more simple in '66, when all Mustangs used the same harness.

All of our harnesses are of very high quality and made in the USA.  They feature the correct color wires, proper gauge wires, accurate plugs...they are just super nice.  We have lots of other wiring too. Give us a call or visit our website.

Here is the listing of the 1965 and 1966 Headlight Wiring Harnesses:

New Part! Mustang Oil Sending Unit Extension Lead Wire

1966 Mustang Oil Pressure Sending Unit Extension Lead Wire.
www.VirginiaClassicMustang.com

The wire extension that runs down to the oil pressure sending unit is often brittle, has frayed covering, and/or has a broken plug due to heat and age.  We now have all three versions of this wire extension available for 1965 and 1966 Mustangs.

We have the early style used with the sender with the warning lights (long speedometer) in the dash.  We also have the type used with the gauge style instrument panel.  There are actually two versions of this one. The '65 and early '66 style had a larger covering.  Soon after the '66 model run began, the covering on the wire was much smaller.

Here is the complete listing:

Keep in mind that this extension is included in all of our 65-66 engine gauge feed wiring harnesses.

65 Mustang Tail Light Wiring Harness

Several months ago, we made a run of the 65 Mustang Tail Light Wiring Harnesses without the Back Up Light Wiring.  These went over very, very well, and we sold them all.  The Fastback versions were particularly popular among the Shelby guys.  We decided to make another run, so we now have more in stock.
Back up lights were an option on the 1965 Mustang.  For some reason, the Mustangs that were not equipped with this option actually received a different tail light wiring harness from the ones equipped with back up lights.

Correct plugs to plug into under dash wiring harness
On the cars without the lights, there was no wiring put in the harness for the back up lights.  With more folks wanting to really get the correct details on their restoration, we decided to make a limited run of harnesses exclusively for us that are correct.  We are really pleased with this wiring harness.  It includes all of the correct little details along with the properly integrated plugs to plug into the tail light bodies like the factory assembly line harness.

Correct Tail Light Socket Plug
The first one will be installed in our early 65 HiPo K Convertible project that you can read about right here on our Blog.

Little details like this really make a restoration.

Correct Gas Tank Sending Unit Wiring Lead with proper covering, plug and grommet
Again, this wiring harness is correct for all alternator equipped Mustangs without back up lights.  This would include all of the 65 GT350 Mustangs (Shelbys) and the early 66 GT350 Carryover cars.  None of those cars were originally equipped with back up lights.

67 and 68 Mustang and Cougar Cowl to Hood Brass Radio Ground Strap

This is just a cool little detail part. It is the radio supression brass strap that is mounted on the cowl on the 1967 and 1968 Mustangs. These original straps are often missing, bent or discolored. It is often very difficult to find a good, used one. Now you can buy this brand new part that is an exact reproduction of the original. It also comes with the correct mounting screw. Ford calls it a Hood Bonding Radio Receiver Strap. The original Ford part number is C5AA-18870-A. This strap was also installed on some Cougar models.

Click here to order.  It is our part number WG-801.

65 Mustang Tail Light Wiring Harness

We have had nice tail light wiring harnesses for most year Mustangs for quite some time, but here is something new.

Back up lights were an option on the 1965 Mustang.  For some reason, the Mustangs that were not equipped with this option actually received a different tail light wiring harness from the ones equipped with back up lights.

Correct plugs to plug into under dash wiring harness

1967 Shelby Headlight Extension Wiring Plugs

Since the headlight configuration on the 67 Shelby GT350 and GT500 Mustangs were changed from the stock configuration, a special headlamp wiring plug extension was required for the high beam lamps.

We now have this unique part available. It is our part number WG-481.

Mustang Heater Blower Motor Wiring

Almost all of the original heater blower motors have either broken, cut or very brittle wiring on the part shown in the above image.

We now have a fantastic solution! These wiring harnesses are made to replace the damaged original wiring coming out of your Mustang's Heater Blower Motor case. They feature the correct colors, connectors and grommets.

The earlier (production before 4/1/65) style features the orange, red and black wires for the 2 Speed (3 wire) motor. This is part number WG7591.

The later 3 Speed (two wire) style has the correct yellow and black wires for the later '65's, '66's and '67-68 Mustangs. This is part number WG7592.

We are currently restoring an early Heater Blower Motor and will post pictures as soon as they are available.

64 1/2-66 Mustang Shock Tower Brace Wiring Clips

Here is another one of those little detail parts for a 64 1/2-66 Mustang. These are the clips that attach to the passenger's side shock tower brace. They hold part of the gauge feed wiring. We list them as part number PE4801 and are sold as a set of two.

Please note that 64 1/2-66 Mustang Convertibles with the Power Top Option use a total of 4 of these clips. The extra two are for the power top feed. This particular example is a very low mileage, original '65 Mustang Convertible.

67 Shelby Tail Light Extension Plug Set

Here is a new and unique part that we now have in stock. It is the Tail Light Extension Plug Set for a 1967 Shelby Mustang. The Part Number is ER5812, and one set does both sides. It is designed to splice into the regular wiring harness, kind of like the originals did.

Does my 1965 Mustang (with Gauge Package) have a Factory Ammeter?

Most '65 model Mustangs came factory equipped with the "Long Style" Speedometer with warning lamps ("idiot lights") for the Oil Pressure and Ammmeter. '65 models equipped with the Deluxe/Pony Interior Package and/or the GT Package came Factory equipped with the 5 gauge instrument panel with the Round Gauges. All '66 models came with the Round Style Gauges.

Over the years, a popular conversion has been to put the Instrument Panel with the Round Style Gauges in a '65 originally equipped with the Warning Lamps. From the front of the panel, both the 65 and 66 gauges look alike. The '65 Ammeter is totally different than the '66. The Wiring harnesses for the two are also, of course, entirely different.

We have had numerous questions about this over years, as we sell the Exact Wiring Harnesses for all of the configurations. To help you order the correct harnesses, please take a look at the pictures below. If you have any questions at all, please give us a call at 540-896-2695.

This Picture shows the back of a 1965 Mustang with the FACTORY Deluxe/Pony and/or GT Gauge Package. The Specific gauge shown is the Ammeter Gauge. The Wiring Harness shown is just a section of our WG193 65 Under Dash Harness (w/Factory Gauges.) The Black w/Yellow Stripe wire routes through the loop on the back of this gauge.

This Picture shows the back of the Instrument Panel of a 1966 Mustang. The Specific gauge shown is the Ammeter Gauge. This Ammeter Gauge has two posts on the back like the rest of the gauges. If you have this one, it's from a '66 model. We,of course, have the correct '66 Wiring Harnesses for these also.
