Customer Cars - 1966 Shelby GT350

We usually don't post back-to-back about the same subject, but we could not help it in this case!

After our customer saw the last Blog Post with the pictures of his cool 1966 GT350, he shared the pictures here along with this message:

The trip went well and we drove down the Blue Ridge, rode the Diamondback and the Tail of the Dragon.
All told we went 1800 miles and seven states in 10 days. We had a great time and made it home safely.

While we love and greatly admire trailered show cars, the longer that you are involved in the hobby, the more you appreciate folks getting out there, driving, and really enjoying these great cars!

We just love it when our customers drop by the shop in their cars.

It's even better when they are going on a road trip, and better yet when it's a '66 GT350. Throw in Weber carburetors, and wow!!!

Enjoy these pictures! These folks were heading for a nice little road trip vacation to the Great Smoky Mountains.

Mustang Gas Tanks - New Shipment

We just got in a brand new shipment of Gas Tanks!!! These are the good ones...the same gas tanks that we use in the restorations that you see here on our Blog.

Lots of times we will offer at least two different versions of a particular part that is available on the market.  That way our customer can chose which one best meets their particular needs.

In the case of this Gas Tank for your Mustang, we don't think it is a good idea.

The only Gas Tank that we handle are the ones manufactured by Spectra Premium.  They are super nice Fuel Tanks and are made in Canada.  In this particular case, we just don't think that it is worth saving a few bucks on the cheaper tank.

These tanks are available for all of the early Mustangs.  We even have a correct tank without the drain plug for the 1970 Mustangs now.

ER-258  65-68 Mustang Gas Tank with Drain Plug
ER-290  69 Mustang Gas Tank with Drain Plug
ER-565  70 Mustang Gas Tank with Drain Plug
ER-5651 70 Mustang Gas Tank without Drain Plug  '70 Mustangs originally did not have drain plugs.

Bristol Spring Nationals - June 1965 - Drag Racing

Al Swenson Ford A/FX Mustang Fastback

There's nothing cooler than vintage photos, and these are just awesome! A friend of ours, Bob Garland, recently shared some photos that he took at the Bristol Spring Nationals in June of 1965.

At first, we were going to just share the Mustang ones, but they are all so darn good, we decided to share them all.

Bob also shared the story of how he drove down to the race and slept in his 1965 Mustang fastback. He also mentioned that he's pretty sure that he didn't get too much sleep!!

Check out the images of the A/FX Mustangs with the 427 SOHC engines that were campaigned and sponsored by Al Swenson Ford and Tasca Ford, Honest Charley by the "Honest Charley" lettered 1965 Mustang fastback pictured with John Holman, the Phil Bonner Mustang, Hemi Under Glass, Jack Chrisman Comet, Richard Petty (yeah, he was drag racing!!), and more!

Enjoy, and thanks to Bob for sharing these incredible pictures!!

Just the Details...1966 Shelby Mustang GT350 Restoration 6S933

1966 GT350 Shelby SFM6S933. Sapphire Blue.

Jeremy at Maple Hill Restorations has produced some very, very nice work over the years. Most of that work has been featured here on our Blog. This 1966 Shelby is definitely one of our favorites! It is an absolutely stunning restoration.

If you regularly read or subscribe to our Blog, you have seen this car featured. Today, we wanted to share a few photos of the completed car.

This is 1966 Shelby GT350 SFM 6S933. It was refinished in its original color, Sapphire Blue. The car never received the popular twin white LeMans stripes across the top, and we think it looks fantastic this way!

This GT350 features its original drivetrain along with all five original ten spoke wheels as listed on the original window sticker.

The new owner is from Virginia and will be showing the car at several venues this year. Hopefully you can see it in person!

Enjoy the photos!
