In 1967, the Mustang factory styled steel wheels came with a blue center emblem.

This wheel is like the styled steel wheel that was original equipped on many 1968 and 1969 Mustangs. Of course, it will fit and look great on all 65-73 (4 lug) models.

Our one piece cast aluminum Magnum 500 (and Magnum 400 wheels for 6 cylinder equipped Mustangs) have been very popular. There is a wide variety of centers to choose from, and now we also have bolt on spinners.

These "knock-off look" spinners are precision cast and beautifully chrome plated. They come complete with mounting hardware to prevent theft. Two center emblems are included, so use whichever one you prefer. These spinners were a popular accessory in the 1960s and 1970s and look fantastic.

Wow! What great looking wheels! One of our customers recently sent us this picture of his gorgeous 1965 Mustang GT High Performance Fastback with his newly installed Shelby Cragar inspired wheels that he recently purchased here at Virginia Classic Mustang.

These are one piece, cast aluminum wheels in a nice 15 x 7 size with the proper 4.25 inch backspacing for a very nice fit on any '65-73 Mustang. We suggest using a 215/60 x 15 tire on the 65-66 Mustangs, and you can go with 225/60 x 15 or even 235/60 x 15 size tires on the later models.

New Mustang Parts! Styled Steel Wheel Design in Aluminum!

We are really excited about this new wheel that just arrived!  It's a one piece cast aluminum wheel in the classic Mustang styled steel wheel design.  We are sharing some pictures here, but honestly they look so much better in person!

We have the wheel centers in the original Mustang red for these wheels, or you can go with the blue or black centers.

68-69 Mustang Chrome Styled Steel Wheels

Within the next few weeks, we will have some new wheels to choose from for your Mustang!  These are the 1968-69 Styled Steel Wheels.  These wheels originally came with a black rim and used a stainless steel trim ring, but our new wheels will feature an All Chrome Rim!  We still have the plain and GT Caps that are sold separately.

As mentioned, this style of wheel was originally installed on '68 and '69 Mustangs (along with other Fords, such as some Torinos), but they will fit any 65-73 with the 5 bolt lug pattern.

These wheels are available in three sizes:

HB-521  14  x 6 (this was the stock size)

HB-522  14 x 7

HB-523  15 x 7

Mustang Wheel and Tire Packages

Way back in 1996, we fitted one of our own Mustangs with 205/70 x 14 B.F. Goodrich Radial TA Raised White Letter Tires mounted on
our 14 x 7 Styled Steel Wheels.

When this 1966 Mustang GT Fastback appeared on our 1997 Catalog Cover, we got a whole lot of phone calls about those wheels and tires.

After that time, we decided to put together our wheel and tire packages. These packages are offered with our Mustang Styled Steel Wheels, American Racing Torq-Thrust Wheels, and Magnum 500 Wheels. A package includes four wheels, 20 chrome lug nuts, and proper centers for the particular wheels ordered. They come to your door mounted and balanced and ready to bolt on your Mustang.

Unfortunately, these tires are produced at certain times, and it is sometimes difficult to get them. There was a recent production run, and we now have a good stock of all the sizes.

We recommend and sell 205/70 x 14 size tires for mounting on 14 inch wheels. Despite what you may have read about 225/60 x 15 size tires, we use 215/60 x 15's for the 15 inch wheels. The 225's are too big, particularly on the 65-66 Mustangs. We also have the 235/60 x 15's which work well on the 69-70 and 71-73 Mustangs.

65-66 Mustang Red Center Cap for Styled Steel Wheels

We have been selling Styled Steel Wheel Center Caps for the Mustang Styled Steel Wheel since we first started selling parts 30 or so years ago.

The first ones that we sold were the ones that, at the time, were still available from Ford. You are probably saying, wow...I would love to get some of those! Well, no...you wouldn't. You see those featured a very "unique" design that had the chrome bezel and center crimped to the backing plate. The backing plate often stayed on the wheel, while the red center and chrome bezel just flew off at the closest turn!

Anyway, the attachment design has slowly improved over the years, and now we have the best design that I have ever seen. The backing plate and design of the cap make for a very nice and secure fit. This new backing plate also allows easy fitment on Magnum 500 wheels.

Keep in mind that the SS wheel centers are made by several suppliers. We only handle the Scott Drake brand. The red center is beautiful, and, of course, they are the only ones that feature this nice backing plate.

Mustang Styled Steel Wheels-Repro. vs. Original

For you detail freaks, we will give you a quick look at the reproduction vs. original styled steel wheel. We were lucky enough to borrow an original from Jeremy Turner at Maple Hill Restoration. He is also performing the restoration work on our Poppy Red Hi-Po Convertible (you'll see posts on that car later.) First, it is interesting to point out that the original wheel is dated. This particular example's month date is hidden by the rivet, but you can see the year. You will also find the Kelsey Hayes (the original manufacturer) stamp.

The center of the Scott Drake Styled Steel Wheel is flattened like the original. The stamping detail is also very, very close.These photos show the back of the wheels. The original was riveted together. The reproduction has "simulated" rivets and is welded to meet today's standards.
The back stamping and configuration is virtually identical. If you have any questions on these wheels, please give us a call.

Mustang Styled Steel Wheels

We are very happy with Scott's Styled Steel Wheels. We have handled many reproductions over the years, and these wheels are just way nicer than any others that we have seen. The stamping, paint, authenticity, and chrome are impressive. They always seem to balance up nicely also.

They are available in all chrome or the 1966 (HB-3) and 1967 (HB-4) black rim style that use the trim rings. We also have various sizes and widths.
