Here is a cool little slideshow showing the before and after pictures of an abused Cobra Aluminum Oil Pan. This is an original pan from an early '66 GT350. The restoration turned out great!

Cobra Competition Oil Pan

There were lots of accessories available for Mustangs when they were new back in the sixties.

One of the most popular "Dealer" Accessories that is commonly added today to 1965-66 Mustangs is the Cobra Engine Dress-Up Kit. This kit consists of Cobra valve covers, Chrome Air Cleaner Assembly, Chrome Oil Cap, Chrome Dipstick, Chrome Radiator Cap, and Chrome Master Cylinder Cap (on the drum brake cars.)

One of the accessories originally offered that you do not commonly see is the "Cobra Competition Oil Pan." This pan is also commonly referred to as the "Cobra Roadster Oil Pan," because it was often used on the 289 Cobra.

It is just a neat accessory that we wanted to share here. This oil pan is going to find a home on our early '65 289 High Performance Mustang Convertible.

Another Cobra Oil Pan

OK-I'm on a "Cobra Oil Pan Kick." Since I posted the slideshow Wednesday about the restored pan, I thought that I would post some images of a "used and abused" Cobra Oil Pan. This is what one looks like after years of hard use and an engine coming apart. That original engine block happens to still be hanging around and will be put back into the car during the restoration. The oil pan is being restored now. I'll post some pictures when it is done.

1965-66 GT350 Cobra Aluminum Oil Pan

Just thought that I would post these pictures of a restored Aluminum Cobra Oil Pan. This was the pan that was originally installed on the 65-66 GT350 Mustangs. This pan was was sprayed with a clear epoxy primer and then low gloss clear. This gives the pan a nice protective finish, yet it does not look at all like it has been painted. The "fins" on the oil pan were then polished. Other details are listed as captions on the photos.
