Win a 1965 Mustang Convertible and Support a Good Cause

Every year, the Rotary Club of Bailey's Crossroads, VA raffles off a classic Mustang. They have another beauty almost ready to go for this year's raffle. Please take a look at the below information and  consider buying a ticket to support their worthy causes.

Tickets can be purchased here:  https://rotary-club-mustang-raffle.myshopify.com/

CLASSIC MUSTANG RAFFLE
A brief history of our classic Mustang raffle.
Thirty years ago, Past-President Robert Metzger, a classic car enthusiast, attended a Board of Directors meeting where discussion focused on the need for a repeatable, significant fundraiser. Metzger suggested a classic car raffle. In 1986 and the first BXRC Mustang Raffle occurred. Top prize? A 1965 Mustang Convertible, blue with a white top. Sales began April and all 1,000 tickets were sold by early June! Over the years we have increased the number of tickets printed and we have extended the sales season to September.
Honorary BXRC member Val Wadsworth works with our club to identify and restore the Mustang. About two years ahead of need, he starts vetting potential cars. Val has been interested in Mustangs since 1975. As a career Naval Officer he traveled a great deal and was unable to actually own a Mustang until he was stationed in Washington DC in 1994. He has served as president of the National Capitol Region Mustang Club of America and currently owns a 1966 Mustang GT Fastback. Val is also a Cobra Enthusiast and is a member of the regional Cobra Club. He is very pleased to have been selected as an Honorary Member of the Baileys Crossroads Rotary Club and considers his restoration efforts as a way of giving back to the community.
The benefits of selling Mustang Raffle tickets in person include meeting the people in our community whom we serve – and meeting people who want to help others. Talking with those who want to give back to their community through active, hands-on service, we have met many “future Rotarians” whom we have welcomed to our club.
Three decades of growth have proven the program’s success and sustainability that has raised more than $1.5 million for charity.

1965 Mustang GT Coupe Raffle Winner

The other week, we posted about a Mustang Raffle taking place at http://www.winagtmustang.com/. We had several of our readers ask if we had any details about the outcome of the raffle. Kenyon Wurster from Uftring Auto Mall sent us this picture and information over this past weekend.

Kenyon says that the winner was John Wilson from Canton, IL. He purchased $300.00 worth of raffle tickets on Saturday morning after listening to a radiothon promoting the raffle all night at work. A 1965 Mustang is his mother's dream car, since it is the year that she graduated from high school. She will have to learn to drive a manual transmission equipped car though!

The pictures shows Gary Uftring (owner of the dealership), Mari Osborne (Children's Hospital representative), John Wilson (winner), Kenyon Wurster (Uftring Auto Mall employee who put the whole thing together) and John Riely (radio DJ.)

Over $28,000 was raised for Children's Hospital of Illinois.
