Mustang Cowl Covers

For years, we have handled the "Cowl Covers" for the 65-66 and 67-68 Mustangs.  These covers fit over the cowl vents in order to keep out water and debris and designed to be quickly installed and easily removed.  They are an incredibly popular item, and we always have customers asking for a version for the 1969 and 1970 Mustang.
Mustang Cowl Cover keeps water, dirt and leaves from entering the cowl area.  This one is for the 69-70 Mustang.  They are also available for 65-66 and 67-68 Mustangs.  See them all at www.VirginiaClassicMustang.com.

We now have the 69-70 Mustang Cowl Cover in stock.  It is our part number IN-5351.

Here is the description from our web site:

With Scott Drake's Classic Mustang Cowl Covers, you can eliminate water, dirt, and leaves from entering through the cowl vent. The use of Poly Methyl Methacrylate plastic (PMMA) helps prevent rusty cowls and soggy carpet that can lead to rusty floors. New Drake low-profile design easily installed or removed with only a coin.

Mustang Cowl Area Rust

The poor design of the cowl area in a Mustang just did not allow for proper drainage. Consequently, this area is very susceptible to rust. Fortunately, the parts are available to repair this rust. Unfortunately, it is not an easy job.
Here are some pictures of our 1965 HiPo Convertible. It's hard to believe that this area was not taken care of over 25 years ago during the car's first restoration. Anyway, we are doing it now. The pictures you see show the fenders removed and the area under the fender/near the cowl cut out for access to the cowl area. We will be repairing the driver's side with our SM-136L Left Hand Inner Cowl Patch. The passenger's side is okay. The pits will be repaired on this side and re-finished. After the sheet metal is welded in and finished (lots of time and work), it will be impossible to tell that a repair has been made.
Other alternatives to a rusty cowl area are our Cowl Covers for 1965-66 and 1967-68 - not really a repair, but they keep the water out. For a quick and easy patch, we have the IN531 Plastic Repair Collars. We also now have the complete Cowl for the 1965-66, when it is not on backorder from the manufacturer. For other models, there are the 1967-68 Upper and Lower Pieces and the 1969-70 Lower piece.

NEW PART! 65-66 Cowl Assemblies

Well, everyone has been asking and asking...we now have the Cowl Assembly for the 65-66 Mustang! It comes in two pieces and includes the top grill and the bottom part that usually needs repair or replacement due to rust.

If you have never seen this assembly apart like this, you will quickly see why the cowl rusted due to poor drainage.

Please note that the top part is the late 65-66 design in that it has the "indentations" for the flange style wiper arms. The 64½-early 65 car had the threaded wiper posts that required the chrome nuts so no indentations on those models.
