1965-70 Mustangs have brackets that attach to the corners of the front bumper. These brackets also attach to the front fenders. The 65-68 models used a u-nut clip with an attached rubber padding that fits against the painted fender.

We love the details, so we have made the effort to put together the exact, correct hardware kit for this application. The kit contains two of these special "padded" u-nuts and two correct bolts. Both, of course, also feature the correct finishes. The bolts are available with a star washer or disc washer, as both were originally used. This kit will also work on 69-70 Mustangs.

These new, improved Mustang outer front bumper arms have been reproduced using original Ford blueprints and NOS samples. Angles, bolt holes, and mounting plates are precisely assembled in fixtures to ensure a fit that requires no modifications. The bolts holes are enlarged slightly in order to fit both original and reproduction bumpers. Finished in semi gloss black.

These new Mustang bumper brackets are currently available for 65-66 and 69-70 models. Arms for 67-68 Mustangs will be available soon.

Just the Details...65-66 Mustang Rear Bumper Date Stamping

The date stamping on a 65-66 Mustang Rear Bumper is located on the inside where the rear license plate light is mounted.  It is more difficult to see than the front bumper date stamping.  This particular example shows a date stamping of "6 1 M4."

Last month, I made a post about the date stampings on 65-66 Mustang front bumpers.  I received several questions about whether or not the rear bumpers had date stampings also.  Well, they do, but the stampings are just a bit more difficult to read due to their location.

The rear bumper is stamped with a date on the inside where the rear license plate light is located.  It is stamped from the inside.  Take a look at the example from our 64 1/2 HiPo Mustang Coupe.

1973 Rear Bumper Rubber Strip

In 1973, there was an option of rear bumper rubber strips for the Mustang. It was a very popular option. These strips almost always need to be replaced. We have listed them in our catalog, but the manufacturer has not had them available for quite some time. Well, we just received a limited number of them.
