It's the slider assembly for the in dash ashtray assembly for all 1965 and 1966 Mustangs and Shelbys. This part features the original clear (silver) zinc plating. Old ones are always dingy and dull. Details like this separate the nice cars from the exceptional cars.

The in dash ash trays in Mustangs are almost always dirty and just not very nice looking. We have a beautiful new ash tray for '65 and '66 Mustangs. This ash tray features the correct cover, rivets, plating, and slides. It's great for anything from the everyday driver to the highest end show car.

The cover is black but can be painted for other interior colors.

65-66 Mustang Ashtray

We recently had the opportunity to install a 65-66 Mustang In Dash Ash Tray. This is our part number IN87. This ash tray is really nice and certainly is a nice detail to add to your Mustang restoration. It features really nice zinc plating, correctly riveted sliders, and a nice fitting front cover panel.

71-73 Mustang Console Ash Tray

I've just got a quick post today about another new part. We have these 71-73 Ash Tray receptacles for the consoles. These are really nice and feature the correct zinc plating. The part number is IN6825.

Mustang Ash Trays

Many years ago, I can remember trying to find ash trays that were not badly pitted so they could be taken apart in order to replate the tray part. We would then find some rivets to put them back together. Now there is a really nice reproduction available of the '65-66 and '67 model Mustang Ashtray!

They both look very nice with the correct plating and rivets. If you want to get really picky, like me, you may want to remove the front cover to paint it. You could probably do just fine though by painting the cover while it is still attached.

Another really interesting note that I just never paid any attention to-the '67 Mustang ash tray is different from the '68 model. You cannot use the '67 on the '68 or vice versa. Maybe we will see the '68 model soon.
