Just the Details...1966 Shelby Mustang GT350

1966 Shelby Mustang GT350
1966 Shelby Mustang GT350 Barn Find.  6S1732.
www.VirginiaClassicMustang.com

It's been a while since our last update on our '66 Shelby 6S1732 "clean up" project.  We aren't calling it a restoration, because it isn't.  This Shelby was purchased from an owner who maintained it very well for over 40 years.  I guess most folks would call it a barn find. Going by the current use (or over use) of that term, it probably really is a barn find.

Most "barn finds" remain in poor mechanical shape and consequently are unable to be driven.  There's also a trend of leaving the dirt on them.  Well, that's not really something we were interested in, but we did want to preserve lots of the originality of this Shelby.  We think that we were able to strike a nice balance, so the car will be quite enjoyable.

Jeremy at Maple Hill Restoration is handling the work, and it's running now and going back together quite nicely.  Check out the pictures.  We should have an update by the end of next week when we expect to have it completely together with the original interior back in the car also!

New Part! Mustang Oil Sending Unit Extension Lead Wire

1966 Mustang Oil Pressure Sending Unit Extension Lead Wire.
www.VirginiaClassicMustang.com

The wire extension that runs down to the oil pressure sending unit is often brittle, has frayed covering, and/or has a broken plug due to heat and age.  We now have all three versions of this wire extension available for 1965 and 1966 Mustangs.

We have the early style used with the sender with the warning lights (long speedometer) in the dash.  We also have the type used with the gauge style instrument panel.  There are actually two versions of this one. The '65 and early '66 style had a larger covering.  Soon after the '66 model run began, the covering on the wire was much smaller.

Here is the complete listing:

Keep in mind that this extension is included in all of our 65-66 engine gauge feed wiring harnesses.

New Part! 69-70 Mustang Deluxe Interior Map Light Assembly with Switch

1969 and 1970 Mustang Deluxe Interior Map Light Assembly with Switch
www.VirginiaClassicMustang.com

This is a super nice part that we just got in!  It's the 1969 and 1970 Mustang Map Light Assembly.  This light assembly was originally mounted under the dash on the passenger side on Mustangs equipped with the deluxe interior package - this, of course, included the Mach 1 Mustangs.

It is complete with the housing, switch, socket, wiring plugs, and light bulb.

These light assemblies are often missing from cars.  The switches in the originals were also notorious for failing and often need replacement.

Our part number is IN-9391.  Click here to view it on the Virginia Classic Mustang web site or simply click on the image above.

Mustang Instrument Panel Voltage Regulator

Mustang Electronic Solid State Instrument Panel Voltage Regulator
www.VirginiaClassicMustang.com
This isn't a brand new part, but it is one of our most popular.

These electronic Mustang instrument panel voltage regulators feature solid state technology.  They feature factory style "cans", so they appear just like the originals but are more accurate than the original mechanical style regulators.  If several of your gauges do not work, there is a good chance that the original regulator needs replacement.  These units are over voltage (surge) protected and do not generate heat.

Here is the complete list of the regulators that are available:

IN-4991   65-66 Mustang Electronic Style Instrument Panel Voltage Regulator

IN-4992   67-68 Mustang Electronic Style Instrument Panel Voltage Regulator

Just the Details...1966 Shelby Mustang GT350 Restoration 6S033

1966 Shelby GT350 Mustang Restoration
www.VirginiaClassicMustang.com

It's been a while since we have posted about our 1966 Carryover GT350 Shelby (SFM6S033) restoration. Other projects have been in the way, but Jeremy at Maple Hill Restoration has been back on it over the past few weeks.  The recent concentration has been with the outside body and fitment of all panels.  Our last post showed pictures of the basically finished underside.

A "paint job" is much more than the final color paint.  A high end result requires hours of preparation...non-exciting stuff that you sort of can't see, but it makes that final actual "paint job" look really nice.  In these pictures you will see that Jeremy has applied a primer.  The black color on the body that is shown in the lower pictures is used as a "guide" in order for Jeremy to determine the low and high spots and keep the sanding "in line".  Speaking of sanding, various grits of sandpaper are used as the body and panels are worked and worked until everything is completely straight!  Lots of work, but we can't wait to see the final results.

This is number 33 of the 252 Carryover GT350s built in 1966.  For more information about these unique Shelbys, visit www.CarryoverGT350.com .
