It is a given that the originals cracked and originals almost always have a small crack to a large gap in the plastic woodgrain. We've been in business for over 35 years and have seen quite a few "restorations" of these steering wheels. In our opinion, I've never seen an accurate or durable restoration.
The only real choice is to replace the steering wheel. There have also been a few reproductions available over the years (and still available), This particular version has been improved since the last run, and we finally have a new batch in stock. Boy, are we impressed! The spokes look nice with the correct brushed finish and the woodgrain finish is very, very close to the originals that we have seen. This one comes complete with the horn ring, spacer, and horn contact rings. All you need is a cap, which we also have.
This wheel is a great choice for everything from a nice upgrade for a driver to a replacement on a trailered show car!

In 1966, there was an optional real wood steering wheel offered for the '66 GT350 Shelby Mustang. In 1967, the real wood wheel became standard in the Shelbys. This steering wheel is a nice replica of those originals. We will be installing one soon in our own '66 Shelby Mustang.
It's also designed like the original where the center caps blow the horn right in the center.

These are the steering wheel caps for the deluxe wood grain steering wheel. This steering wheel was a stand alone option and standard on Mustangs equipped with Pony interior and all 1966 Shelbys.
They are made in the USA and are super nice...almost impossible to tell from the original part!

All originals shrink causing gaps between the steering wheel and the pad. Lots of time was spent in developing and producing these in order to make sure they fit just right!
In addition to the 70-73 Mustang, these also fit the 70-73 Cougar, 70-74 Maverick, 70-74 Torino, 70-74 Thunderbird, 70 Falcon, and 70 Fairlane.

We are proud to announce a whole new line of Mustang Steering Wheels from GT Performance Products. It's always exciting to offer parts like this when they are so darn nice!!!
The pictures don't really do these steering wheels justice. They are far superior to our previous offering of Grant Steering Wheels.
They all feature polished billet aluminum hubs along with polished aluminum Mustang center caps. The horn center cap is secured by a "Sure Lock" O-Ring design that allows the cap to fit easily, snugly, and securely. They all come complete and ready to install with the steering wheel, hub kit, and Mustang center horn button cap.

There are three versions available for 64 1/2 Mustangs with Generators, 65-67 Mustangs, and 68-78 Mustangs. We have the GT Classic Series that features either a traditional "old school" Black Foam grip or a Genuine Wood Grip (with a beautiful clear finish!). Both of these feature super nice chrome (front, back, and sides!!) spokes with cool chamfered holes.
The other version is the GT Retro design. This steering wheel features stainless steel construction with brushed spokes, laminated "book-matched" layered wood grip secured with rivets, and a beautiful clear finish on the wood.

They are back in stock!!! We now have the lower contact rings for the deluxe woodgrain steering wheel on the '65-67 Mustangs. These are plated metal rings for the horn contact. Many times they are very worn or simply just missing.
They are used on the factory installed simulated woodgrain steering wheels. These wheels were originally installed on '65-67 Mustangs with the Pony (Deluxe in 1967) interior and could have been a stand alone option too. We have beautiful reproductions of the entire steering wheels also.

It is always great to see super quality reproduction Mustang parts being made. It is particularly nice when a part is improved. The 68 Mustang center horn pad Running Horse emblem was previously only available from one supplier. Honestly, the quality was a bit lacking, including the fact the the red, white and blue order on the emblem was reversed.
Scott Drake Mustang Parts fortunately decided to do something about it and designed and reproduced their own emblem. It is really nice, featuring the correct colors and chrome running horse. It is a super improvement over the other one. We now have these new, improved Running Horse emblems in stock and ready to ship. They are, of course, Ford Licensed Products.

NEW PART! 65-66 Woodgrain Steering Wheel
One of the most popular options to add to your '65 or '66 Mustang is the Simulated Woodgrain Steering Wheel. Unfortunately, the originals were really prone to cracking. Very seldom do you see an original that does not have a small crack or, more likely, a large gap in it.We have handled the IN882 Complete Woodgrain Wheel (except for the cap) for quite some time. But what if you already have a wood steering wheel with all the parts, and it needs replacement due to being cracked? Well, we now have the answer! This is a really nice duplicate of the original. It is only the steering wheel itself-no extra parts. The simulated woodgrain part looks very nice with a grain pattern and the spokes are a nice, new brushed finish, both like the original. This is a great option to spruce up your interior by replacing that old cracked and shabby original wheel.
