There is a really cool program at Northeast Texas Community called the Carroll Shelby Automotive Program. The curriculum of the program not only is designed to prepare students for careers in today's automotive repair field, but also to teach skills needed in the aftermarket automotive fields in building modified cars and race cars.
Students in the program were recently given a unique opportunity when Texas attorney, Rob Miller commissioned the program to build a "historically correct" 1965 Mustang to compete in the 2000 Mile Panamericana in Mexico held in October. The car will be driven by Mr. Miller and Wilber Grinsven under the banner of the Shelby A/P Race Team.
This unique program is led by director Keith Finnimore. Instructor, Tony Whitworth brings a tremendous amount of passion and racing experience having worked for A.J. Foyt Racing for ten years. He also has experience in restoring many Shelbys.
