2020 GT350 Tour - The Hill Country of Texas
2020 GT350 Tour |
Well, as everyone knows, it's been a super crazy year. Folks have certainly curtailed much of their travel, so it was awesome that we were able to pull off our annual GT350 Tour.
This was the fifth Tour, and we have been fortunate enough to have attended every one. The Tours are held at a different place each year with the Smoky Mountains, Virginia (close to home!), up-state New York (The Adirondacks), and Arkansas (The Ozarks) being the previous locations.
This year's Tour was held in the beautiful Hill Country of Texas. We were based at the Hyatt Hill Country Resort in San Antonio. A total of 26 GT350s participated this year, which means we had about 52 people. There were 11 1965s, 13 1966s, and 2 1967s. Participants came from all over the country...Virginia (of course!), Texas, California, Florida, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Kansas, Delaware, Michigan, Tennessee, South Carolina, Maryland, New Hampshire, and Arizona. Oh, and we cannot forget the one participant from Canada!
With everything going on, the planning of the Tour certainly presented the organizer, Lee Cross, with a daunting task particularly in finding a resort and planning all of the stops for lunch. Again, he did an amazing job! One of our cool visits included Martin Brothers Customs and Rex Rods in Johnson City, TX. The hospitality that these folks showed us was just amazing! Be sure to check out Martin Brothers Customs TV show, Iron Resurrection.
The Tour lasts five days, but there are four driving days. In those four days, we covered 1025 miles over the roads in the gorgeous Hill Country of Texas.
I have personally been involved with "old cars" for my entire life, and the Tour is always the most fun that I have had involving these great cars.
Enjoy the pictures!!
