During the production of 1966 Shelby GT350 Mustangs, there was a change made from using the open letter Buddy Bar Cobra valve covers to the "solid letter" black Cobra valve covers.
Apparently, there was a problem with cracking around the mounting holes due from over tightening these valve covers. The solution was to use rather unique hold down tabs in order to spread out the pressure of the mounting bolts.
These hold down tabs started to be installed by Shelby America on many of the '66 GT350s with these valve covers. There are actually three different shapes used in the set. Up to this point, original hold downs have been nearly impossible to find as they were usually lost over the years when valve covers were removed.
We have made exact reproduction sets of these special valve cover hold downs. They are made here in the USA, feature the exact thickness, correct cut, and correct black zinc plating. The sets are available with and without mounting bolts.
