The 50th Anniversary Mustang Event in Charlotte was, as expected, a huge event. Our first stop was the Rare Cars Display tent in the MORE parking outside the speedway. This was put together by Marcus Anghel from
Anghel Restorations. There were unique cars inside the tent and quite a few parked around outside the tent. The cars included unique performance Mustangs such as Boss 302's, Boss 429's, 428 Cobra Jet Mustangs, K Code Mustangs, and a variety of Shelbys. Some were perfectly and authentically restored and others were completely original. It was a nice mix of everything.
Other clubs and groups were represented in the large MORE parking area outside the track. There were tons of cars to see in this expansive area, and that was before one even ventured inside the speedway to see lots more!
At the main front entrance to the speedway, the original owners display included cars still owned by their first owners. As always, there were lots of interesting stories to be heard in that area.
The vendor and manufacturer areas were inside the speedway. Ford had a gorgeous display of Mustangs and current new model cars. The display even included the very first Mustang - Serial number 1.
The track itself was hot with the open track activity for Mustang running most all day.
Saturday got pretty much washed out as the rains came Friday night, but we got two days worth of pictures. We will post more as the week progresses. Be sure to check out the captions for more information on the photos.
Enjoy!

It wasn't exactly surfing weather, but the surf board looked cool displayed on this 1968 Shelby GT-500KR just outside the Rare Cars tent at Charlotte. www.VirginiaClassicMustang.com |

We've known Bob Perkins for years. His collection and work is unbelievable. His "viewable" trailer housed cool memorabilia and a 1966 HiPo Mustang Fastback with only 3800 original miles! www.VirginiaClassicMustang.com |
