We are calling it a restoration, but it's more of a "freshening up" like our 1966 green GT350 that we have featured here on our Blog. This '67 is just a super nice, original car that needs cleaning and going over to be a dependable driver that can be thoroughly enjoyed.

The engine and transmission were removed when a problem was discovered that required an engine rebuild. This post just covers some cleaning of this great original car. As you can see, so far, it looks great!

The first 300 or so 1965 GT350 Mustang Shelbys were equipped with the battery mounted in the trunk. A special rubber coated clamp was used to secure the cable to the frame rail and floor pan as it was run from the front to the back of the car. These same clamps were used on the trunk floor to secure the bungee cord that hold downs the jack assembly.

What a great looking steering wheel!!

In 1966, there was an optional real wood steering wheel offered for the '66 GT350 Shelby Mustang. In 1967, the real wood wheel became standard in the Shelbys. This steering wheel is a nice replica of those originals. We will be installing one soon in our own '66 Shelby Mustang.

It's also designed like the original where the center caps blow the horn right in the center.

This is SFM6S181 - one of what is referred to as a "Carryover". The Carryover Shelbys were actually '65 Mustangs that were used for '66 GT350s, so Shelby American could get some '66s completed for sale in time without having to wait the '66 Mustang production to begin. The first 252 1966 Shelbys were Carryover cars. I know...confusing, huh?

Just how cool is this? It's a Mustang bedspread! It was available in the 1966 JC Penney Christmas Catalog. It was called a "Mustang Spreadmobile"..."a speedy way to a child's heart".

It was available in red and blue for twin sized beds. The price listed was $12.88. Matching curtains and valance were also listed.

This is the first time that I have seen this. Has anyone else seen these or maybe had one back in the day?
