Jeremy at Maple Hill Restoration continues to restore the original hood on '66 Carryover GT350 6S033. If you missed the first part of this report, you may want to click here to check it out.
After prepping the metal frame, the fiberglass skin was temporarily installed to fit it to the car. The frame was then permanently attached to the skin with 3M Panel Adhesive. The outer edge was finished off for an original appearance. When the Shelby hood was originally manufactured, the outer edge was really the only thing holding the skin and frame together. On the "new and improved" hood, this is just done to duplicate the original appearance.
Of course, as is typical of these hoods, there were cracks out from the scoop that also needed repair.
It took a lot of time and effort to pull this off, but it's going to be a very nice hood!
Enjoy the pictures and look for our next post showing the repair of the original brake cooling side scoops.
