If you have been following our Blog, you certainly remember our green 1966 Shelby (6S1732) that we purchased in Missouri.  It is a great original car, but just needed a "clean up" restoration. Honestly, it would be considered a "barn find".  While it is a great candidate for a full blown, killer, show restoration, we chose to clean it up, keep a ton of the original feel and parts, and get the car 100% functional and reliable.  This car is completed now, and while it's not going to win any trophies for shiny, perfect paint and brand new interior, it is really reliable, fun to drive, and appeals to enthusiasts who appreciate originality.  Click here to read some of the previous posts about the '66.

One of those guys who really appreciated the great work being performing on our '66 Shelby by Jeremy Turner at Maple Hill Restoration was a reader of our Blog here.  He just happened to own a gorgeous '67 Shelby GT500 that was in similar condition to our '66 GT350.  A few phone calls were made, and the '67 was on its way to Jeremy's shop for a similar "make over".

The owner wants the exact same result that we achieved with our '66, and boy does he have a great car to start with!!  It's a low mileage GT500 with lots of originality including original paint and interior.  Again, the plan is to retain a great deal of originality while making the car super reliable and enjoyable.

The first order of business was to evaluate the Shelby and get it running.  It was super cool that the original gas tank was still in place, but the pinholes in the bottom of the tank were not so cool.  It was pulled and replaced with one of our show quality gas tanks, just like in our '66 Shelby.

The underside of the car is completely rust free and beautiful.  A general clean up will be performed while keeping the original finishes just as Jeremy did with our '66.

Once the car was running, worn bearings were discovered in the engine, so the next order of business is pulling the engine for a complete rebuild.  Stay tuned!
