'65-66 Mustang Fuel Filler Neck specifically designed to install a '70 22 Gallon Gas Tank in a '65-66 Mustang. www.VirginiaClassicMustang.com |
A very popular swap for '65-66 and '67-68 Mustangs is to install a higher capacity 22 gallon gas tank in place of the original 16 gallon gas tank.
The gas tanks are the exact same dimensions, width and length, and the larger '70 gas tank will easily bolt right in any '65-68 Mustang with no modifications. So, where does that extra 6 gallon capacity come from? Well, it comes from the height of the tank, as you can see from the picture below.
A 16 gallon gas tank for '65-68 Mustangs is shown on the left. A 22 gallon gas tank from a '70 Mustang will fit in a '65-68, increasing your fuel capacity by 6 gallons! It is an easy swap with our new, custom-made filler necks. www.VirginiaClassicMustang.com |
That extra height, along with the angle of the inlet neck, presents a problem in mating the original fuel filler neck in the '65-68 Mustang to the taller '70 Mustang gas tank.
Our new, custom-made fuel filler necks take care of this problem. They are made specifically for '65-66 Mustangs and '67-68 Mustangs and make installing the '70 gas tank into these models a breeze.
