1966 GT350 Shelby Carryover For Sale

1966 Shelby GT350.  Carryover. For Sale.
www.VirginiaClassicMustang.com

As the '65 Mustang production year wound down, Shelby American was busy planning the release of the new '66 GT350 Shelby.  The new model would feature several changes from the '65 including side mounted rear brake scoops, plexiglass quarter windows, a different dash mounting tachometer, the new '66 Mustang grill, and more.  Since the production of the 1966 Mustangs would not start up until mid-August of 1965, Shelby ordered 250 1965 Mustangs in order to get a jump on the production of the new model 1966 Shelby.

These 250 cars, along with 2 prototypes, have recently been referred to as "Carryover" cars.  They are quite unique in that they are actually '65 Mustangs.  They feature '65 interiors and '65 GT gauge packages along with the associated unique wiring.  There are other differences, and you can learn more by clicking here to visit www.CarryoverGT350.com.

Listed here for sale is one of the these unique cars.  It's the 99th one, so the Shelby serial number is SFM6S099.  It is currently running a Mexican block 302 with a 289 crankshaft, but comes with the all important original 289 High Performance with the Ford VIN stamping.  The unique close ratio aluminum T10 transmission is also included and has been rebuilt.  The original date coded rear end center section is also included.

The interior is original and features the original date coded tach, original seat upholstery, and perfect original headliner.  The floor pans are original along with the date coded front fenders and hood. This Shelby sports the optional Shelby unique Cragar wheels which have been properly re-rimmed.  The trunk is super nice and includes an NOS Ford trunk mat and even the original Goodyear Blue Dot spare.  The bottom side of the trunk lid still wears its original paint and jack instruction decal.  Even the radiator is original and properly date coded.

Tasteful changes have been made to enhance the driving experience including a great sounding side exhaust system with a custom x-pipe, a '65 style real wood steering wheel, and bolt on performance suspension pieces.  The original suspension pieces and steering wheel are included. These parts, along with a rear exiting exhaust, would be super easy to install if you have a preference for a totally stock GT350.

Original paperwork with a unique car like this is always a great bonus, and this one has it!  The original window sticker, dealer invoice, and even the original bill of sale is included.

This unique Shelby is located in California and is priced at $190K.  If you have an interest, please click here to contact us for the owner's contact information.

Mustang Headlight Wiring Harness

1965 Mustang Headlight Wiring Harness
www.VirginiaClassicMustang.com
Even if your Mustang's wiring is not all cut up, it's 50 years old.  Time, heat, and cold have all taken their toll.  Replacing the wiring harnesses is always better than seeing smoke!!

One of the main harnesses under the hood area is referred to as the Headlamp Harness.  We are often asked for the wiring harness that plugs into the horns or voltage regulator or headlights or alternator harness...you get the picture - all of these plug into this headlamp harness.

There were two versions made in 1965.  One is for the Mustang equipped with the warning lights (for the oil pressure and water temperature).  These are the cars with the "long style" speedometer.  This included the 1965 GT350 Shelby.  The other is for the '65 models with the gauge package.  These cars included the GT equipped Mustangs, cars with Pony (deluxe) interior, and the early '66 Carryover GT350 Shelbys.

It was a bit more simple in '66, when all Mustangs used the same harness.

All of our harnesses are of very high quality and made in the USA.  They feature the correct color wires, proper gauge wires, accurate plugs...they are just super nice.  We have lots of other wiring too. Give us a call or visit our website.

Here is the listing of the 1965 and 1966 Headlight Wiring Harnesses:

1966-70 Mustang Wiper Arms - Back in Stock!!

We now have the satin finish wiper arms for 1966-70 Mustangs back in stock.

Early in 1966 production, a change was made to the finish of the wiper arms.  The earlier ones had a polished, bright finish.  A change was made to go with a satin finish.  This was done to reduce glare.

We, of course, handle the earlier polished versions also, and here is the list:

50th Anniversary GT350 Tour

1966 Shelby GT350 6S1732 all clean before the rainy tour!
www.VirginiaClassicMustang.com

Here on the Blog, we have written about our "clean up restoration" of 1966 GT350 Shelby #6S1732. If you missed those posts, you can see the pictures and posts by clicking here.

We have been driving the car quite a bit this summer, but we were fortunate enough to join some friends for almost 600 miles over about 4 days during the 50th Anniversary GT350 Tour.

The Tour included eleven '65-66 GT350s, two '67s, and a new 2016 GT350. Even three straight days of rain didn't dampen folks' spirits. It was a fantastic time with cool cars and great people.

Enjoy the photos! Check out our Virginia Classic Mustang Facebook page for even more images.
