While Jeremy at Maple Hill Restoration was repairing the hood on the early Carryover GT350, he decided to also tackle the original side brake scoops.  They needed a bit of work, but it was nice to be able to use the originals.  Check out the pictures!

www.VirginiaClassicMustang.com

Monterey Car Week (www.montereycarweek.com) should be on every car guy's bucket list.  It was especially true this year as the GT350 was the featured marque at the Rolex Historics (Monterey Motorsports Reunion) at Laguna Seca Raceway.  There are tons of events including numerous shows, tours, and auctions.  You just can't do it all!

Our week kicked off with the Carmel-By-The-Sea Concours on the Avenue.  It was a great show! You can't really get the full idea of how good the show was by looking at just a few pictures here...especially since we are only posting the pictures of the Shelbys and Mustangs.

We will start off with the above picture showing 1965 GT350s, 5010 and 5S061 as we follow them out of the hotel parking lot to the show.

If you are a fan of all types of cars like us, there was a lot more to be seen!

We will have more pictures from the week soon!

Just the Details...Hood Restoration on 66 Shelby (Part 2)

Fiberglass Shelby GT350 Hood.
www.VirginiaClassicMustang.com

Jeremy at Maple Hill Restoration continues to restore the original hood on '66 Carryover GT350 6S033.  If you missed the first part of this report, you may want to click here to check it out.

After prepping the metal frame, the fiberglass skin was temporarily installed to fit it to the car.  The frame was then permanently attached to the skin with 3M Panel Adhesive.  The outer edge was finished off for an original appearance.  When the Shelby hood was originally manufactured, the outer edge was really the only thing holding the skin and frame together.  On the "new and improved" hood, this is just done to duplicate the original appearance.

Of course, as is typical of these hoods, there were cracks out from the scoop that also needed repair.

It took a lot of time and effort to pull this off, but it's going to be a very nice hood!

Enjoy the pictures and look for our next post showing the repair of the original brake cooling side scoops.
