Just the Details...1965 Mustang Convertible Restoration

The Mustang Tail Light Assemblies have been installed!

If you have been following our Blog, you are familiar with this 1965 Mustang Convertible that Jeremy Turner from Maple Hill Restoration is restoring for himself.  This beautiful Twilight Turquoise Mustang is now starting to come together, and we will be featuring more detail pictures here over the next few months.  Here are just a few images that Jeremy shared the other day.  You can visit the Maple Hill Restoration web site at www.MapleHillResto.com.

Much of the underdash pieces such as the wiring and heater assembly have now been installed in the '65 Mustang Convertible.

The chrome quarter panel ornament looks great against the beautiful Twilight Turquoise paint on this Mustang.

The detail on this Mustang Convertible is amazing.  This image shows the convertible top motor along with the darker red/brown primer which duplicates the original finish in this particular area of the Mustang.

Here is another shot of the Power Top Motor.

Detail shot of the inside of the quarter panel on the Mustang.

This Mustang's trunk is beautiful.  The flowable seam sealer has been duplicated here.  It was reapplied exactly like the original.  This style is often seen on Dearborn built Mustangs around this production period.  This car's production date is January 1965.

Mustang Heater Box detail from under dash area.

Mustang Heater Plenum detail.  This is an original cardboard heater plenum.

Another Mustang Heater Box detail from under dash area.

The dash area is coming together quite nicely.

  1. Great photos, thank you for posting! What is the square bracket with the tabs left and right adjacent to the opening for the steering column?
    Thank you!

  2. Great question...and thanks for reading our Blog!
That bracket is used only on a 64 1/2 and earlier production 65. It is used to hold the piece of jute where the clutch rod goes through the firewall. Sometime around Feb. of '65 or so, this type of set up was changed and the rubber boot that fits into the round hole was used.
Here is the link to the boot:
