Merry Christmas from Virginia Classic Mustang!
Merry Christmas! www.VirginiaClassicMustang.com |
I love this, so I've been posting it for the past several years. I found it somewhere on the Internet and tweaked it a bit. I don't know the author (sorry), but it is pretty cool!
Happy Holidays from Virginia Classic Mustang!
'Twas the night before Christmas and in the garage,
There wasn't a trace of a Chevy or a Dodge.
The presents were wrapped and the lights were all lit,
So I figured I'd mess with the ‘Stang for a bit.
I popped out the hood pins and I lifted the hood,
When a deep voice behind me said "looks pretty good."
Well, as you can imagine, I turned mighty quick,
And there, by the workbench, stood good ol’ Saint Nick!
We stood there a bit, not too sure what to say,
Then he said "don't suppose that you'd trade for my sleigh?
I said "no way, Santa" and started to grin,
"But if you've got the time we could go for a spin!"
His round little mouth, all tied up like a bow,
Turned into a smile and he said "hey! Let's go!!"
So as not to disturb all the neighbors' retreat,
We pushed the Mustang quietly into the street,
Then, taking our places to drift down the hill,
I turned on the key and I let the clutch spill.
The sound that erupted took him by surprise,
But he liked it a lot, by the look in his eyes.
With Goodyears a' crying and side pipes aglow,
We headed on out where the hot rodders go.
And Santa's grin widened, approaching his ears,
With every up shift, as I went through the gears.
Then he yelled "can't recall when I've felt so alive!",
So I backed off the gas and said "you wanna drive?"
Ol’ Santa was stunned when I gave him the keys,
When he walked past the headlights he shook at the knees!
Then the HiPo exploded with side exhaust sound!
Santa let out the clutch and the tires shook the ground!
Power shift into second, again into third!
I sat there just watching, at loss for a word,
Then I heard him exclaim as we blasted from sight,
"Merry Christmas to all...........what a great night!!!"

New Autolite Battery Toppers are Here!
Autolite Battery Cover Topper ©Virginia Classic Mustang Inc |
Our new, Autolite battery covers are really nice! If you want to use a "regular" battery, but want an original look, these are perfect! They are injection molded with nicely painted details and decals. They even feature molded-in color removable caps.
Once they are installed in a car, these covers look quite authentic.
We now have two versions - one with the red painted lettering and caps, and one with the yellow caps.

Here are the links:
The most common question that we get is "what battery should I use?" It's a great question, because it has to be a battery with a flat top, so the cover will fit nicely. The other factor to consider for '65 and '66 Mustangs is the battery clamp mounting tab on the battery case. Many aftermarket batteries are designed for top clamps only and do not have this mounting tab.
We recently had to purchase a new battery for our driver '66 GT350 Shelby and found the perfect battery for our new Autolite battery topper. We are using an Exide Battery. These are sold by Tractor Supply stores here on the east coast, and we understand that Home Depot handles them also.
The size that you want is Group 24F. There are several "grades" of the same size. They all use the same case, so any one you choose will be fine. We used the 24FS. The case is black and the decal easily peeled off. There is no need to "extend" the terminals on top and the 65-66 battery clamp holds the battery secure exactly like the original.
This is a great Group 24F size battery for our Autolite Battery Cover Topper ©Virginia Classic Mustang Inc |
If you prefer, we still have brand new, complete, AGM Autolite batteries. You can check them out by clicking on this link.
We also still have our "economy" Autolite battery topper available. It is a completely molded part in that the caps are not removable. The caps are also painted, rather than molded in color.

What an absolute blast it is to drive a vintage GT350 for 870 miles over the course of less than a week and hang out with like-minded friends!!
That's exactly what happened when we recently embarked on our GT350 Tour.

In this post, we have some pictures from the last few days of the Tour. We visited the Greenbrier Resort, took the Greenbrier bunker tour, enjoyed more back roads, ate some great food, scraped some frost from the windows, experienced some snow flurries, listened to stories from the original GT350 project manager, Chuck Cantwell, and more!
Enjoy the pictures!

GT350 Shelby Tour - Driving the Shelbys!! Part 1
We have been selling parts for Classic Mustangs for almost 40 years and have had the opportunity to see the hobby grow and experience different ways to enjoy these great Mustangs and Shelbys.
There are, of course, lots of ways to enjoy the cars. Some trailer them to shows to compete for awards, some race them, some use them as everyday drivers, some just collect them for investments, and some just use the cars for occasional local cruise-ins.
There's no incorrect or better way to enjoy your Mustang or Shelby...just different ways.
One of our favorite ways is touring, and we recently did just that!!
We have featured our 1966 Shelby GT350 on the blog here, detailing our "driver" restoration. This is the car that we used on the tour.
Over the course of the week, we put over 870 miles on the car with no problems, and it was a blast!
We had 18 total cars - seven '65s, seven '66s, two '67s, one '68, and a 289 Cobra (36 people) and lots of smiles even though we experienced some nasty weather on our first full day. We definitely had some dirty Shelbys!
Here are just a few pictures from the arrival day and first full day. Enjoy these pictures, and be sure to check out the Blog soon for more pictures! You can even subscribe by entering your email address into the box on the RH side of the page, and the posts will be delivered directly to your email when we post them!
