The "refreshing" of the 1967 Shelby GT500 is coming along great at Maple Hill Restoration. We are calling it a refreshing rather than a restoration, because Jeremy is trying to preserve as much as the originality on this car as possible. It's a gorgeous original car, but certain items just have to be restored and painted...other items are being restored, but the original finish remains. It's a fine line on which items to paint and which to leave as is. When it's all over, I think a nice balance will be struck.

The engine had to be completely rebuilt, so the only choice was to paint it. Some components were installed with their original finishes though. Check out the latest pictures showing the engine primed, painted, and assembled.

There are a lot of parts that have to be replaced during just about every '65-66 Mustang restoration. The inside mirror bracket isn't a part that wears out or quits functioning, but very often its chrome finish just doesn't look as good as it did when it was new!

We have great looking new ones. It's a reasonably priced part and simple to install. The chrome finish is super nice. Surprisingly, all of the "versions" are the market are not created equally. The one that we handle is the best one available. Call us to order or click on this link.

Mustang Bedspread from the 1966 JC Penney Christmas Catalog (Part 2) !!!

Back in March of this year, we wrote a Blog post (click here to see it if you missed the original post) about the incredibly cool Mustang bedspread that was listed in the 1966 edition of the JC Penney Christmas Catalog. How many of us remember just studying those Christmas Catalogs from Sears and Penney!!?

Anyway, the bedspread was called a "Mustang Spreadmobile"..."a speedy way to a child's heart" It was available in red and blue for twin sized beds. The price listed was $12.88. Matching curtains and valance were also listed.

Imagine my surprise when I received one in the mail just last week! A very nice lady was cleaning out her 88 year old mother's house and found one of these Mustang bedspreads in brand new condition! It had been her brother's. Curious about the origins of the bedspread, she headed to Google to search for information about it. She found our original Blog post and decided to send it our way. Wow! We were floored and very thankful!

Just the Details...1967 Shelby Mustang GT500 Restoration

The 67 Shelby Mustangs received modifications to the rear tail light panel to fit the long style Thunderbird tail lights. The modifications made by Shelby American were rather crude. Jeremy at Maple Hill Restoration discovered more about this subject as he works on the "refurbishment" of this gorgeous '67 GT500.

One of the tail lights had been leaking, so special care was taken to prevent any further leaks (both water and exhaust). Check out the fantastic work!
