Back Up Light Switch Bracket for Hurst Competition Plus Shifter

Back Up Light Switch Bracket for Hurst Competition Plus 4 speed Shifter.
www.VirginiaClassicMustang.com
Of course, the Hurst Competition Plus Shifter is a popular modification to any Mustang (or any car, for that matter) with a 4 speed transmission.  The back up light switch kit from Hurst includes a flimsy bracket that does not really work that well.

We now have a new bracket precision cut from heavy steel and powder coated black.  It easily bolts on the Hurst Shifter as shown in the above image.

Order our part number IN-6156.

Just the Details...65 Mustang Six Cylinder Rear End Restoration

Six Cylinder Rear End Housing from 1965 Mustang.  This is a January '65 Dearborn production Mustang Convertible.
www.VirginiaClassicMustang.com
A while back, we posted some pictures of a 1965 Mustang Six Cylinder Rear End Housing being restored. We just wanted to follow up with some pictures of the completed assembly.

This restoration work was completed by Jeremy Turner of Maple Hill Restoration (wwwMapleHillResto.com).  This is Jeremy's own January '65 Dearborn production Mustang convertible.  Jeremy copied all the original paint markings from this rear end housing and duplicated them here.  I honestly don't know what these markings mean.  Anyway, take a look at the pictures.  The work and detail by Jeremy is fantastic!

Bonneville 2012 Pictures

Photos from Bonneville Salt Flats - 2012

One of our buddies went to Bonneville on Saturday and Sunday and sent us some great images.  We put together this quick slideshow of the pictures.  I don't believe there is a single picture of a Mustang, but there are definitely some cool cars pictured here!

These are just from Saturday.  We will post more later.

65 GT350 Mustang Shelby Battery Apron Plugs

1965 GT350 Mustang Battery Apron Plugs.
www.VirginiaClassicMustang.com
The first 300 plus 1965 GT350 Mustangs had their batteries relocated by Shelby American to the trunk for better weight distribution.  When the stock front battery tray was removed, four of the mounting holes remained in the front apron.  Shelby American sourced unique rubber plugs in order to fill these holes.  Apparently, these plugs were not a stock Ford part.  They were perhaps just some type of aftermarket plug. I'll also note that some cars only received three plugs, since the original bottom front battery mounting bolt sometimes still remained in the hole!

The rubber plugs were really designed to fit into a thinner panel.  The original plugs actually get "sucked down" in the hole and distorted as shown in the above image.

These plugs are just about impossible to find, and even if you are lucky enough to have the originals, they are often weathered, hard, and cracked.

I always thought that it would be really nice to have these plugs available as a reproduction.  The problem with reproducing a part like this is the simple fact that not many of them will be sold relative to the high tooling cost to make them.  I decided to do the project anyway, hoping we could just break even on the deal!

Anyway, the plugs turned out fantastic!  They look and fit just like the originals.  They are great pieces to have available for owners of the trunk mounted '65 GT350's.

Our part number is PE-2151.  They are sold in sets of 4.

Mustang Convertible Top Hydraulic Cylinders

65-70 Mustang Convertible Top Cylinder.
www.VirginiaClassicMustang.com
We now have an imported version of the 65-70 Mustang Convertible Top Hydraulic Lift Cylinder.  This imported version has a 5 year warranty.  Our part number is ST-1642.  Right and Left sides are the same.  They are sold individually, so purchase two per car.  It is often a good idea to install two new ones at the same time anyway in case one cylinder works, but happens to be weak.  These cylinders also fit Mercury Cougars.

We also still carry the cylinders that are made in the USA.  They carry a 3 year warranty.  They are available for both the 65-70 Mustang models (ST-164) and the 71-73 Mustang models (ST-1641).

Mustang High Performance Choke Cable Rubber Cover

Rubber Cover for Manual Choke Cable Assembly.
www.VirginiaClassicMustang.com

We now have the rubber covering for the Mustang and Shelby manual choke cable assembly.  It comes as a 52 inch section, which should be more than enough to do any 65-66 HiPo Mustang choke cable or even a 69-70 Boss 302.  Our part number is IN-7481.  The new covering allows you to use your original choke cable if it is good and only needs the rubber covering replaced.  If you need the entire 65-66 Mustang / GT350 Shelby manual choke cable assembly, we still have a great USA made reproduction with the correct knob, bracket, cable and covering.  Our part number on this is IN-70.
