Stormproof Car Covers

Sorry, no exciting pictures here today at all!

I just wanted to talk a little bit about our new "higher end" Stormproof Car Covers. They are really the ultimate outdoor covers. These covers offer the best protection against rain and sun. As you can see from this picture with the Stormproof cover on the right and the Mosum Plus (formerly Noah) cover on the left, this cover is extremely lightweight and compact. I really like this aspect, because it is so easy to handle and roll up.

Don't let the compact size and light weight fool you though. This is quite a car cover. Like all of our Mustang Car Covers, this cover will not scratch even the finest finishes. The material is made of microscopic yarns that make up the advance micro-fiber material. It is important to note that this is an UNCOATED and UNTREATED material. That means that after months or years of use, it will still retain its original water resistant properties. This fact also makes this cover the most BREATHABLE cover available. The material really feels like a light weight golf jacket.

We have these covers available for many applications. Just click here to check them out.

1966 Shelby GT350 Post Card

I don't really collect literature, but I like neat stuff when I see it. I'm partial to the early GT350's, so I think this post card from 1965 is pretty cool. As far as I know, that should be the first '66 Shelby GT350 - SFM6S001. It is the same one that is pictured on the brochure for that year. It is sporting the 14 inch ten spoke wheels with the Shelby Cragar center caps. The ten spoke wheels did not appear until later in the production of the 1966 model, and a different center cap was used.

1966 Mustang Chrome Quarter Panel Ornaments

A lot of times we offer two different "versions" of the same part. It is usually a case where one version is the economy version and the other is the show quality version. Obviously, the show quality version is more expensive. The question becomes "is it worth it?"

Well, in most cases (if not all), yes, it is worth it.

A terrific example are the 66 Mustang Chrome Quarter Panel Ornaments. Our economy version is our part number ER87. The show quality version from Scott Drake is our part number ER8711.

Why are the ER8711's worth the extra dollars? They fit so much better. The other point is the fact that the chrome on these are just so much nicer. If you are looking to save a few bucks, the economy versions may be fine. These are so much trouble to put in though (if the quarter windows are still in your Mustang), that I would recommend springing for the better ones.

If you ever have any questions about which version of any of our parts are right for your restoration, give us a call. We are always more than happy to give you an honest opinion.

Does Your 65-66 Mustang have Factory Dual Exhaust?

Dual exhaust was factory installed on GT equipped and 289 High Performance 65-66 Mustangs. It is, of course, a popular add on now. If you are interested in the details, you may want to know how to tell if a 1965 or 1966 Mustang came from the factory with dual exhaust.

One way to tell is to pull out the rear seat. Here, a convertible is pictured, but this detail appears the same on the Fastback and Coupe models also. Take a look at the arrows. They are pointing to a "reinforcement" piece of sheet metal that is not found on factory single exhaust models.

This is just one of those interesting details. For you guys and gals not into those types of details, I'll just say that it is not necessary to have these plates welded on your floor pan to add dual exhaust. It is no problem adding the factory hangers and plates in the same location on a Mustang that was not originally equipped that way.

SAAC-34 - Photo Blog - Part One

This past weekend marked the 34th annual convention of the Shelby American Automobile Club. The event was held at the Four Points Sheration in Mars, PA and the Beaverun Motorsports Complex, both near Pittsburgh, PA.

This is just a quick photo blog entry of the event. I'll post more images later.
