Mustang Parking Brake Cables

1969-70 Mustang Front Parking Brake Cable

1971-73 Mustang Front Parking Brake Cable

These just arrived! We now have 1969-70 and 1971-73 Mustang Front Emergency or Parking Brake Cable with the metal covering and springs like the original. These are a great alternative to the replacement style cable with the plastic covering. The plastic covered aftermarket cable was previously the only cable available.

Part Numbers are BK1104 for the 1969-70 Cable and BK1105 for the 1971-73 Cable.

Cobra Tie Tack

Well, here is just something different today. This Cobra tie tack was purchased around 1964 or 1965 from Shelby American, and we happen to still have it. I doubt it is super rare, but I think it is just kind of cool. I'm not sure whether a reproduction was ever made or not.

1967-73 Speedometer Cable Firewall Grommet

Here is a little, new part that just arrived. It is the 1967-73 Mustang Speedometer Cable Grommet. This rubber grommet fits on the speedometer cable where it passed through the firewall area. It was reproduced from the original Ford Blueprints.

Mustang Horns

It has always been tough to find good sounding, used horns for a Mustang. We have had these reproductions for well over a year now, and they have been very popular. They are nice metal reproductions with the correct brackets.

I just thought about featuring them here on the Blog, because our friend and editor of Modified Mustangs & Fords, sent us an email with a link to a tech. article that he wrote. To read the article click here. Mark also posted a cool little video along with the article. Click here to see the video. Thanks for sending this, Mark!

Here is the list of horns that we have available:

Marti Auto Works

We have been dealing with Kevin Marti at Marti Auto Works for many, many years. It was probably around the time that Kevin first started his business. Kevin is a true enthusiast, and it shows. We continue to do a lot of business with him. We sell his correctly stamped hoses, spark plug wires, battery cables, data plates and labels for the Mustangs. We also handle his two great books: Mustang by the Numbers and The Mustang and Cougar Tagbook.

We bring this all up because of the informative article written by Donald Farr in the latest (August 2008) issue of Mustang Monthly magazine. In the article, Donald interviews Kevin about the history of his company and how he obtained the database of 1967-73 car information from Ford Motor Company. Check it out!

Mustang GT Stripe Kits

The original 65-66 GT Mustangs featured a rocker stripe kit with chrome Mustang Letters in a cut out area on the front fender. These stripe kits and chrome letters are still available, but say you just want something a bit different...or easier to install. The Mustang "pin letters" can be difficult to line up properly. Well, you could buy the stick on letters; but if you don't want to use the chrome letters at all, we now have the solution.

This is a stripe kit with the Mustang letters already in the stripe. They are even the same size and font of the original letters. These kits ar fairly new and have proven to be a extremely popular item.

They are available in several colors for 65-66 and 67-68 models:

Mustang Spark Plug Wire Sets-Pertronix

The reproductions of the original spark plug wire sets are nice. They have all of the correct markings, boots, etc.

If you really like to drive your Mustang though, we highly recommend the Pertronix Spark Plug Wire Sets. More and more people are "enjoying" their Mustangs now by taking road trips. Ignition wires can be a huge part of how well a car performs. These Pertronix sets are made from very stock looking materials. The 7.0 millimeter plain black wires look like the originals but have no printing. The sets feature very high quality boots, including nice 90 degree boots to go in the distributor. These are also custom sets that are factory terminated for a perfect fit-no cutting, crimping or splicing required. They even have a lifetime warranty.

Sets available include:

Mustang Export Braces

Adding an export brace to your Mustang can be a great improvement. It really eliminates a lot of "flexing" that is common in a unibody car such as an early Mustang. These braces were originally installed on Mustangs that were exported out of the country. They were also installed on the early Shelbys.

When installing an export brace, please be aware that the shock towers often may be slightly "leaned in" on some cars due to rust or collision damage.

We have two qualities of export braces. One we call a standard quality, and the other is called concours quality. The concours quality export brace is easily worth the extra money. It was made using the original Ford Blueprints. The fit is much better, the stamping is much deeper, and the overall finish and quality is just much nicer.

We also have the correct 65-66 Shelby GT350 Export Brace. It is different from the others in that the mounting holes above the firewall are evenly spaced.

Here is a list of all the braces that are currently available:

David Hammer's 1965 Mustang Coupe

We want to thank David Hammer for sending these great pictures and information about his '65 Mustang Coupe. Here is what David wrote:

I bought my Mustang on 22 April 2005. I knew before I bought it that it would not be the concours type Mustang. The previous owner had installed a T5 heavy duty transmission, power front windows and had it running on a set of American Racing Nitro wheels.

It went to the body shop where all the minor dents were removed and it was painted the original color of Caspian Blue. Since I got it out of the body shop I have done (or had done) the following: New headliner, 80/20 blend black trunk carpet, chrome trunk latch, chrome monte carlo bar, chrome export brace, chrome alternator, chrome shock tower caps, chrome Ford Motorsport valve covers, engine compartment dress up kit, Ford racing dipstick, Ford Motorsport electronic ignition, Hooker headers, Ford racing spark plug wires, Ford Motorsport chrome air cleaner, Flex-a-lite 6 blade radiator fan, polished aluminum distributor, Edelbrock aluminum performer intake, chrome master cylinder cap, gold plated battery cable clamps, custom reclining bucket seats with headrest, Phantom 6 gage instrument cluster, GT Grant custom steering wheel, passenger and driver side lighted door sill plates, custom Humphugger full length console, custom lighted shifter knob, Mustang AM/FM cassette stereo, Audiovox AVX equalizer, Pilot chrome petal covers, headlight gill ornaments, rockers panels, wheel well molding.

There are several other little things such as chrome running horse valve stem covers, running horse air cleaner wing nut and a white front dash. This year I've had a new set of KYB high pressure shocks and new carpet installed. I've also had the hood latch and support powder coated along with the horns. I've learned a restoration/modification project never ends. I can always think of other things to do.

I currently have on order from Virginia Classic Mustang new windshield wipers, cowl cover and a leather shifter boot for the Humphugger console. Projects in the near future include a new windshield, drip rail moldings, powder coated hood springs, and kick panel speakers. Some of my dream parts that are out of my reach right now are a stainless steel tilt steering column and an aluminum radiator.

Thanks again, David for sending this! If any of our readers would like to see their Mustang featured in our Mustang Blog; just click here, and we will tell you how!

289 High Performance Mustang Fans

Many years ago, a very nice reproduction of the fan for 289 HiPo Mustangs was reproduced. Well, it is back again! We were able to get a few and now have them in stock.

As mentioned, it is a very nice reproduction with nice detail and correct looking rivets. It is very reasonably priced, especially considering some of the prices for used original fans that I have seen lately. These original High Performance Mustang fans seem to be getting harder and harder to find.

1971 Mustang Colorized Wiring and Vacuum Diagrams on CD

These Mustang Wiring Diagrams (including Vacuum Diagrams on the 67-71 models) have been very well received. We now have another year model available. The ones for the 1971 models are now in stock. Keep checking, we should have the 1972 and 1973 CD's soon!

This 1971 version includes Color Diagrams for:

Convenience System; Exterior Lights; Interior Lights; Heat and Air Conditioning; Horns; Convertible Top; Ignition; Starting and Charging; Rear Defroster; Cigarette Lighter; Clock; Power Windows; All Radios; Windshield Wiper and Washer; Intermittent Wipers; Key Warning Buzzer; Mustang Emission Control...and much, much more.

This 1971 CD contains over 490 Total Pages in easy to read, zoom and print Adobe PDF format. Like the other years, it also includes the 30 minute Ford Training Video called "How to Read Wiring Diagrams." This CD is, of course, licensed and approved by the Ford Motor Company.

Mustang Pony Floor Mats

We finally have the Mustang Rubber Pony Floor Mats in a variety of colors. They are now available in Black, Blue, 65 Red (Bright Red), Dark Red (for 66-69 models), Brown (for Ginger/Palomino/Saddle interiors), and Green (for Ivy Gold interiors.)

These mats sets come as a set of 4. The front mats have the Running Pony Emblems. The backs feature "anti-skid" tips to prevent too much sliding around on your carpet. They are exact duplicates of the original rubber mats that were available from Ford when the Mustangs were new.

Just as the originals, you may wish to trim these mats when using them in a convertible model. Because the convertible has the extra inner rocker panel, the floor is more narrow.

These floor mat sets have always been a favorite, because they offer great protection for your carpet, are easy to clean, and were an original Ford Accessory.
